Summer is coming around the corner but spring is looking just as exciting with the events and things to do it has to offer before the season ends!
If you’re craving a good time on the beach and can't wait for summer, the Gold Coast is the place to be in the months ahead. From free whale watching to the highly anticipated return of the Groundwater Country Music Festival, there is a lot that shouldn’t be missed this spring.
Calendar at the ready… Here are a few things you shouldn’t miss this spring 2021 on the Gold Coast.
Gold Coast Whale Watching
Spring just so happens to be whale watching season on the Gold Coast. And if seeing a whale first-hand is one of the things on your bucket list, now’s the time to head over.
The migrating humpback whales can be seen just off the coast through July to November, and they are a sight to behold.
Depending on your budget, hop on a whale watching tour, such as Whales in Paradise, to see the whales up close, or take a pair of binoculars to a vantage point – like Tumgun Lookout in Burleigh Head National Park – to glimpse the migrating humpbacks for free.
The choice is yours but you’ve got to act now if you want to see them this year!
Beach 5s Rugby Festival 2021
Beach rugby fan? Then you won’t want to miss the Beach 5s Rugby Festival when it returns to the Southern Gold Coast this spring.
Beach Rugby Australia brings its high-energy tournament to Greenmount Beach, pitting Australia’s best beach rugby teams against one another for a weekend of action-packed five-a-side.
It’s free to spectate – just don’t forget deck chairs and a picnic blanket for October 30 and October 31.
2021 Coolangatta Gold
Another big reason to head to the beach this spring! Coolangatta Gold – the iconic Ironman event – is back for two days of gruelling endurance racing on one of the Gold Coast’s most stunning beach destinations.
But don't worry, you don't have to take part. Kick back and spectate from the oceanside as Australia’s toughest athletes take on the lengthy 42km course comprising skiing, running, swimming and paddleboarding.
Coolangatta Gold 2021 takes place on the weekend of November 13 and November 14.
Groundwater Country Music Festival 2021
The event that’s got us all excited. Groundwater Country Music Festival is a FREE music festival held in Broadbeach, which delivers nothing but the biggest names in country-rock performing for free for the music-loving public.
No tickets involved, family-friendly and held over a three-day weekend. There isn’t an excuse for missing Groundwater Music Festival this spring, which is boasting a brand new lineup headlined by The Wolfe Brothers.
Don’t miss it – just make sure to be in Broadbeach from Friday, November 12 to Sunday, November 14.
