After a two-year pause, the Currumbin RSL’s ANZAC Day Dawn Service, Australia’s largest regional ANZAC Dawn Service, will resume on April 25, 2022.
The regional ANZAC Dawn Service will return to Elephant Rock on Currumbin Beach, which provides a stunning and geographically fitting background as it draws the community together to honour Australia’s current and past defence forces. In the year 2022, please join us in commemorating ANZAC Day.
Below is your guide to ANZAC Day activities close to The Rocks Resort;
Walk 4 Remembrance
Following the success of the inaugural Walk 4 Remembrance in 2021, which drew over 230 people, the activity is coming back this year. The entire community is invited to come together, support one another, raise awareness for those veterans who have died due to the struggle within, end the stigma around mental illness, and donate to the funding of initiatives that help veterans. On April 10, the 8-kilometre walk will begin in Gilltrap Park in Coolangatta and end at Currumbin RSL.
Lighting of Throwers Bridge & Elephant Rock
After a great response from the community in 2021 regarding the ANZAC Week Lighting Projects, the Throwers Bridge in Currumbin and Elephant Rock at Currumbin Beach will be lit from April 19 to 25th at midnight.
Currumbin RSL’s ANZAC Day Dawn Service
As previously stated, the Currumbin RSL Dawn Service will return to Elephant Rock on Currumbin Beach on April 25. Elephant Rock is approximately 100 metres from The Rocks Resort. (The Park & Ride service also departs at Currumbin RSL and The Pines Shopping Centre at 3 a.m)
- At 3:30 a.m, the gates to the march assembly area will open.
- The march will begin at 4.35 a.m., followed by a dawn service at 5 a.m.
- A Gun Fire Breakfast will be held at Currumbin RSL starting at 6.15 a.m.
The ANZAC Day events are under the current Queensland Government Covid-19 Restrictions; however, these restrictions are subject to change and may affect these activities.
If you plan on attending the dawn service, The Rock Resort is happy to welcome you. The Rocks Resort Currumbin Beach accommodation offers ocean-facing, fully self-contained holiday apartments with private balconies with access to spectacular coastal views and a range of fantastic resort facilities. It is only a 25-minute walk to the Currumbin RSL or a short 4-minute drive.
